Trip Planning - Razorback Ridge

Image
Keen to head out to Razorback Ridge and look at the spine of magnetite before the iron ore industry picks back up and they tear this one out. Pics from the Magnetite Mines project gallery . Pretty interesting looking spot, something about the black jagged rock in the middle of nowhere seems appealing. Pretty rugged and empty country given the close proximity to Adelaide. Here's a rough two-three day loop to cut past it. Probably tie this in with a trip through Mt Bruce and Caroona Creek CP. Haven't mapped them because google doesn't want to play ball with locating the roads etc. https://goo.gl/maps/fgsvPT5mekk

Trip Plan - Lake Gairdner NP loop

Image
Wouldn't mind doing a trip to the DLRA races in Lake Gairdner for speed week. Stay a night at the Lake Gilles site from the postie trip, head to the salt lake the next day for a good look, maybe 2 nights perhaps. Head up to Kingoonya and home.   Could also look at heading up to the Breakaways  maybe out to tarcoola and up to Coober Pedy or something along those lines.

Places - the Breakaways

This is a pretty cool spot to check out, might have to plan a lap around on a Lake Gairdner trip 2018. https://www.environment.sa.gov.au/parks/Find_a_Park/Browse_by_region/flinders-ranges-outback/kanku-breakaways-conservation-park

Places - Hammond and Carrieton

Some pretty interesting country from the film 'The Rover' up near Hammond and Carrieton. Lots of bleak open nothing with rugged escarpments. Pretty keen to go for a blast up and around this place. Maybe stay a couple of nights up at Horseshoe Rim. http://horseshoerim.com.au/4wd-tracks

Trip Plan - Jez's Official Gettin Old Trip

Image
https://goo.gl/maps/DoGFWNr5e6J2 Trip to phillip island... Hopefully all on dirt bikes! Might have to see whether we can hit more dirt between Tailem and Warracknabeal. Stay at Hepburn springs for rejuvenative properties of the fizzy water. Circumnavigate Melbourne on Day 2.

Trip Plan - Morning run to the Lobethal

Image
https://goo.gl/maps/fcggmSJq4z52 Here's a loop I've put together for a big morning ride. Basically take the dirt backtrack from Aldgate (previous post) to Hahndorf, intermittent dirt to Nairne, then almost all dirt to Charleston. Hit some wings at Lobethal and bitumen home.

Dirty birds

https://goo.gl/maps/qTYjTcQFcJ72 Went for a blast with Jimmy on his WR450. Interesting to compare how much smaller and lighter the WR is to next to DRZ. Aluminum frame makes a big difference I suppose. JH had a couple of sneaky dirt tracks to muck around on, covered similar ground to the previous ride. Boots full of water on a creek crossing on Gross Road, that was fun. Some firetrack access only with washouts on Crossing Road up the back of Bradbury as well.  Lots of roos though, and a Deer popped up out of nowhere on Crossing/Lamont road. Took a quick stop at Lamont/Mt Bold road. that's the reservoir reserve boundary track.... so appealing.....  Reliving my youthful misadventures on Formby road. Went separate ways from top of Oakridge road.

DRZ maiden voyage

Tidy up of the DRZ. stripped, painted frame, some zinc plating on hard parts, new indicators etc. Took it for a shakedown run, cold Autumn arvo. Never more than 10 minutes from home but still stumbled across some amazing places. Boyle Swamp road is a place I could live some day. https://goo.gl/maps/WQ1AMuinMRH2
